Archive for September, 2011
This is the time of year that I get out the hammock pads for my rope hammocks. In the hot weather, I don’t use them as much. But when it starts to turn cooler, especially in the evenings, I enjoy laying on the comfortable hammock pad and relaxing into the evening.
It is getting dark so much earlier now! I really don’t like when the nights get shorter and shorter. But, this is what happens every year, I remind myself. I will miss the daylight hours as it turns into fall, then, winter… But for now, I will just enjoy this thick cushion under me, keeping me warm and cozy.
Another way to enjoy a sporting event is with the Algoma Hammocks sport couch. This is great for two people and keeps you closer to your loved one. I always bring it when my wife can come for practice.
So much softer than those hard, cold bleachers! The carry strap makes it the perfect portable couch. It comes in red, green, and blue, so it might work for your school color.
September, and fall, is the time of year for our kid’s sporting practices and games. Personally, I don’t enjoy the hard bleachers to sit and watch.
When I take my Algoma hammocks butterfly chair along with me, I am always glad I did. I have a blue one for their school color, so it’s perfect! The greatest part is that I am comfortable!
It’s raining again! I am a little bit disappointed, but I guess it will keep me in the house to get some indoor chores done. I am so happy that I have a hammock in the house!
I had to go lay down a little while in my favorite quilted hammock that is in my great room. There is something so therapeutic about hearing the rain and seeing it hit the window, while swaying gently in a cozy, quilted hammock. I will eventually get something done, but I am going to just stop and enjoy this moment in my day.
The weather around here has been a bit rainy, unfortunately. I have been so anxious to get out on the bike trail and ride my bike! It was a week today! I rode thirty miles with a special friend, then we had a wonderful Italian lunch! The only thing I would do differently would be to not eat the whole bread basket! But I was starving until we had lunch!
At the end of this wonderful day with beautiful, summer weather, I slipped out to my KW hammock chair. I crawled in, and stretched out. I love the way you can stretch your legs or curl them up under you while in the chair. This was the ending to a perfect day!
Where did the summer go? It went somewhere, and it went fast! I already miss the warmer weather, the long days, and warm nights. I miss the lightening bugs and the night sounds.
Oh, well, I will say goodbye to summer, embrace fall, and move on! There is much beauty that comes with fall. I do love the colors of the changing leaves. I also do enjoy the crisper weather and the clear sky. One of my favorite things to do on a beautiful fall day is lay in my rope hammock and watch the leaves fall.
Well, it did turn out to be an indoors weekend, with a lot of rain here. We had a fun time in the house anyways! Last evening, we watched Grown Ups, so funny, and a few scary movies! We made smores, in the microwave, and popcorn.
We blew up the air mattress, put together our folding hammock, and used the large hammock in our arc hammock stand. Then, we lit a lantern like we do at a real camp and turned out all the lights. We stayed up telling silly and scary stories. I would have preferred nicer weather, but you need to be flexible and make the best of things. It was good, clean, and dry fun!
I had an overnight camping trip planned with my boys for Sunday, into Monday. With the weather forecast being rain, we may need to improvise! Even though I do love to camp, I have to admit, I don’t love it in the rain! Taking the kids camping in the rain is something I would rather not do. So, we are probably camping in the house!
It will still be fun. We will get one of the travel hammocks out and hang it from the ceiling. Then we will get our great room fixed up for an indoor adventure. The boys have fun with this and we call it “Indoor Camping”. It can actually be inexpensive to entertain your children. It just takes some imagination and a fun attitude. The most important thing is the time we share together.
Today is the first day of September, already! I love the month of September! The beautiful sky, bright blue with puffy clouds, and usually clear, with the humidity of summer over. The days are still warm but the nights are cooler.
This is some of my favorite camping weather coming up! I am just so anxious to try out my new portable hammock. I can sleep like a baby with my travel hammock strung between two trees. The other nice thing about September is that there are less bugs at night!
