A Mexican hammock in the house is the perfect way to brighten up a room! They are hand woven in beautiful, bright stripes, and come in so many colors. You might match your room…or not.
Either way, it will bring color and life to your home this winter. You can always take outside when it is warm. But enjoy it, for now, in a family room or bedroom, for a relaxing spot to just “hang out”.
I have discovered that having many hammock pillows on my hammock is the greatest way to relax. I like to pile them up, then put one right under my head, for support. This makes it very comfortable for reading, also.
I think it is fun to get a pretty hammock pillow to coordinate with your hammock because it adds a personal touch to your favorite spot. I have one that makes me thing of lying on a hammock at the beach! It would be an interesting idea to make it seasonal for a hammock in the house, a pillow for each season, and inside, these can be regular couch pillows. You could change them around for something different, as it is easier than moving furniture!
I have been talking about beating the winter blues so much because I am really working at this too! Today, it was cold and rainy, so gray and dreary out there. I had a lunch date with some girlfriends. It was one of those days, you don’t even feel like driving, but just staying in. Of course, I couldn’t cancel, so I forced myself out with my raincoat.
We had a wonderful lunch at a cozy restaurant with a fireplace! Then, we went to a beautiful garden center, and browsed around through plants in bloom and lovely displays. What a wonderful way to beat the winter blues! I highly suggest it! I did not realize how great the flowers and plants would make me feel! I am now lounging around in my Mayan hammock, listening to the rain, and feeling peaceful.
I just saw an advertisement that said bright colors are your best defense against winter. This is right in line with what I had mentioned last week, when I was talking about beating the winter blues. Bright colors can really spruce up a dismal room in your home. Every time you see it, there is a pleasant feeling evoked.
My advice, of course, is to find a spot for a hammock, probably a small cotton hammock, in one of your rooms. You can even it hang it from one hook in the ceiling and make the most unique, cocoon chair to swing in! This is the way to make a hammock chair from a hammock. You will love it! Choose a bright color that you like. Not only will the color bring you happiness, but the use of it will, also. If you don’t have extra space, just squeeze it in for now, then when spring comes, take it outside.
One of my favorite things to do with my hubby is a very simple activity. No fancy clothes required. It doesn’t cost a thing, either. I’m actually a cheap date!
I love to light the fire, then crawl into the double hammock, and just snuggle. Talking about our day and spending quality time together is a great way that we stay close in our marriage. I suggest it to anyone as a special time to spend together, especially, on a cold, winter evening.
If you enjoy camping, but not in the cold of winter, and possibly in the snow, there is still a way you can enjoy some “indoor camping”. If you have children, they will love this, boys and girls, alike. You get yourself a few travel hammocks, one for each person. Then you find some places in your basement, or whatever room you choose, to hang them. Wall studs or ceiling joists work fine. Put small hooks there for the next time.
Now, you can make it lots of fun. This is indoor camping, remember, so you have more comforts, so movies are acceptable too. Make popcorn and microwave smores! Did you know they make special marshmallows just for these now? Just make it fun and do whatever the kids enjoy. They will remember these special times for years to come!
I am so thankful that I don’t have to travel anywhere tomorrow, as they are predicting a snowy night here at my home. It makes me just want to hibernate and come out in the spring!
I have plenty of food in my pantry and freezer. I have enough books to last me for several years, so I will have plenty to read. I can even exercise with my kids’ gaming system. Best of all, I have a cozy, quilted hammock by the fireplace to lounge in. I’m all set! See you in the spring!
What a rather unique and fun piece this hammock chair is! It has an aluminum frame wrapped in a weather resistant wicker. It is not the average hanging chair you see in any home. This has a modern, upscale look, that works as well indoors as outdoors. Complete with a large, comfy pillow, that is also weather resistant.
What a relaxing way to just stay home and “hang out”. This gives one the feeling of floating in their own little planet. The Outback Chair Company Urban Balance Sphere will be the envy of all your guests. What a great conversation piece!
For the last eight days, we have been exploring ways to “beat the blues”. When I say this, I am referring to that feeling of sadness or depression we get with colder temps and less daylight and sunshine. This is not a true, clinical depression that some suffer from. I have blogged on seven different ways to combat the “blues”, or some say, the “blahs”.
These include colors, scents, or aromatherapy, music, fresh air, comedy movies or sitcoms, books, exercise, and even a fireplace. I hope that it will help remind you to think of ways to reach for a happier mood. Happiness is a choice that we make every day, and that doesn’t mean there isn’t ever any work involved. Sometimes, it easier to be in a slump, the path of least resistance. But it doesn’t feel better! Of course, I suggest “hammock therapy” all year long! Find yourself a hammock or hammock chair that will fit indoors, as well as outdoors, that you love the look of, so that you can enjoy it every day! Happy Winter to you all! Before we know it, spring will be here!
My last piece of advice for brightening a winter’s day, especially if it is a snowy, rainy, cloudy, or a cold day, involves one of my favorite things about winter! A fireplace! I love the smell of wood burning, and the crackling of a fire! So, now you are thinking, well, you don’t have one. Then what?
Did you know that there are whole units that you can purchase, containing a standing unit with a gas log insert, that is not vented? Just hook up to your gas source, if you heat with natural gas. If not, you can purchase a tank from the gas company. The other fireplace that is new, and becoming very popular, is an electric fireplace. It has a nice, warm look, and produces a small amount of heat. It would certainly suffice for a fireplace, if that is the best option for you. One of my favorite winter, cozy days involves swinging in my Bliss Hammocks hammock chair, while sitting in front of the fireplace, reading, snoozing, or just watching the fire. It is so relaxing, yet uplifting.
