I was just over at my sister’s house for a relaxing day by the pool, while the kids were away at school. I am in love with her cool, modern type of hammock chair she has by the pool.
It is an Urban Balance Cove and guess who wants one? That would be me! How awesome to just curl up in there and take a nap! Now, I need to convince my husband how badly we need one!
I started running this summer and it is going very well. I am progressing along swiftly, adding miles every month, and enjoying it most of the time. Well, tonight was one of those times…not so much! After eating a very healthy dinner of cheeseburgers on the grill and potato chips, sarcasm intended, I thought it would be nice to take a short run, as it cooled off quite nicely.
Well, that didn’t go so well after a meal like that! Very quickly after starting my run, I decided a walk was better than no exercise at all, so that is what I did. Then I proceeded to head out to the back yard, where I plopped my body right down in my Bliss Hammocks travel hammock! The funny thing is the color is gaucamole! Like I needed to be reminded of more food!
As I was boating on my friend’s lake yesterday, we were riding around looking at the houses that border the lake. There are so many beautiful ones, all different types and sizes. But one thing I noticed at many of them was that they had a hammock in their yard near the water.
However, the ones that did have a hammock all had one thing in common: they all had a rope hammock! Perhaps this is just what goes well near the water, I’m not quite sure, myself. But it became a bit of a game for my girlfriends and I, who are quite easily entertained! Sure enough, that is what all the hammocks were! Rope hammocks!
A group of my girlfriends went boating today. We met at my friend’s house and, while we were waiting for everyone to arrive, we were hanging in her hammock swings. We were waiting to see if it was going to clear up….or rain. It was one of those days where it could do either.
The great part was that the sun came out, and we were able to boat and swim a bit. Then it did rain late in the afternoon and we all got a little bit wet, so we went in the house and got on dry clothes and had some hot coffee. We were still happy for a whole afternoon of nice weather. The time spent with friends is so special to me!
Well, I spent some time outside last night in my hammock chair listening for the differences in the day and night sounds of nature, while under my big maple trees. I did not hear any locust last night. They were probably tired from working hard making so much loud noise all day long?
Ahh, I heard crickets, katydids, and the tree frogs, “peepers”, I call them, were peeping too! I love and appreciate my home in the country and all the music that nature provides when I take the time to listen.
As I sit in my knotted hammock chair, on this gorgeous afternoon, swinging under the trees, I am listening to the all the sounds I am hearing. It is unbelievably loud! This must be the year of the locust? They are not very big, I am amazed by the loud sounds they make! Then there is a bird chirping here and there, mostly drowned out by these loud bugs.
I feel like it is their music they are making and if we would compare it to human music, I would have to say it is like heavy metal music! I believe the nature music is different at night, so I will check that out later!
Today, my family and I had a fun day trip to an aquarium! It had been a few years since we were there, and I am always amazed by the beauty we see there. I love the unique patterns and beautiful colors of the sea life. Just think, there are things in the sea that no one has ever seen!
I am so thankful when I am reminded of what a beautiful planet we live on!It made me want to take a minute, when I got home, to slip out to my beautiful blue hammock chair that reminds me of the ocean!
I was laying in my Outer Banks Hammocks rope hammock this evening, just enjoying the last bit of daylight, after sunset. I was “counting my blessings”, as my Dad use to always say. I was thinking back over the nice weekend I had and how grateful I was for that!
I had a wonderful family day yesterday going for a bike ride on the bike trail, then dinner at a special restaurant near there, after we were done. Then just hanging out at my home today, enjoying the outdoors, as we haven’t been able to do lately with the heat! The weekend was gorgeous and I am happy as a clam! The only downfall is that the days are getting shorter…but what can we do?
This time of year I do lose a bit of interest in my plants, as the weeds start to grow, and the plants just start looking tired from the heat of summer. We have had a hot, but wet, summer. So, they plants have grown a lot, but then, so have the weeds!
Today is a nice day, not so hot, and a bit breezy. I am going to show some love to my flower gardens and small vegetable garden, by trimming and weeding, so the plants look nice and are healthy for late summer. Then, when I am able to be outside for cooler temperatures, they are on their second wind, as I say. When I need a break, I will take a rest in my beautiful macrame hammock, with a cold drink!
This has been one hot summer! Wow! The only place I can tolerate outside lately is by the pool. The beautiful flowerpots I planted in May are beginning to show signs of the extended period of heat they have endured. Even under the shade of the trees has not been cool enough some days.
These are the days I allow myself to come inside in the afternoon, and swing in my hammock chair, and think to myself.”thank God for air-conditioning”! I hope to enjoy some cooler weather soon!
