I am so proud of my strong little portable hammock, that I accidentally left out in the storm last night! The water was flying up on the deck at high tide from the bay below, and the wind was whipping at 35-45 miles per hour! There was my strong little Bliss Hammocks travel hammock, strapped to the deck railings with tree straps, whipping around and around, and I was not going out in that once I realized it!
So, this morning, a new day has arrived, wind has died down, rain is over, and there was my poor little hammock, all twisted up, and wet, but truly, “no worse for wear”! I am so thankful! I untwisted it, and now it can dry out so I can use it later today, or this evening to watch the sunset!
I love riding my bike, and I love the bike trails here on the Cape. Some of them make you work a bit, which I sometimes ask myself, “why do I like this?” So, this year, we found a beautiful park we had never knew of before. Well, let me tell you, I thought I was a fairly strong biker, but the hills on this bike trail were very hard!
It was a ton of fun, and so very beautiful, however, when we got back to the cottage, all I wanted to do was lay down in my cotton hammock, and rest. I was too tired to even go for dinner! So, it was a meager meal last night, and a glass of wine, but, hey, that’s the fun of it for me!
Last evening, there was an incredibly beautiful sunset over the Cape Cod Bay! Wow! Nothing compares to nature’s paintbrush, I always say! I had been biking the majority of two days, so when yesterday came, I knew it was going to be beach day. I had a very relaxing day on the beach, watching seals close to shore, and whales in the distance!
But the highlight of my day was coming back to the cottage in the early evening, settling in my Bliss Hammocks travel hammock that I brought this year, with a nice glass of wine, and watching this beautiful sunset over the bay! I would have to say that completed a wonderful day!
The bay is just beautiful this morning, very still and peaceful. That’s a change from the past couple of windy days. I would love to own one of these little cottages, and just might some day. However, I would have a small frame built above the deck to hold a hammock chair.
Swinging in an hammock chair would be awesome, while looking out across the bay would just be amazing! I could spend a whole day doing that, of course, taking a break for lunch!
Having a vacation up here in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, one of my absolute favorite places! Staying in a little cottage right on the Cape Cod Bay, otherwise known as “Heaven”. I can sit on the deck for hours on end, just listening to the waves lap gently on the shore, sunning, and reading.
This year, however, I got smart! I missed my hammock last year, so I brought along one of our camping hammocks, and used tree straps to fasten it to the railings on the deck. It is perfect and I am so happy I thought of it! Now, I can look out over the beautiful, blue water, and just give thanks for this gorgeous day!
Yesterday, I talked about a rope hammock. Well, I really love my Outer Banks Hammocks rope hammock, or some know of this company as OBX Hammocks. It is the abbreviation for that part of North Carolina, called the Outer Banks. They make the hammocks right there in a little shop a few blocks from the beach!
I love mine, especially, because it is terra cotta colored, which looks great on my patio. I like to accent it with orange and yellow flowers nearby, in flower pots. Not to mention, it doesn’t just look great, it also feels great! So comfortable, and cool, too!
What a humid day it was! It just is getting a bit old, I know, when I start dreaming of California, and how nice the weather can be there. Especially with no humidity! I am not sure how or why it is that way, but it is looking very appealing right now.
The best hammock for this type of weather is the rope hammock, definately. It doesn’t hold the moisture like a quilted hammock does, and if you are lucky enough to get a breeze, it blows up under you!
In case you didn’t get the memo…Labor Day was 2 days ago. It’s time for you to start making your exit! I never, ever thought I would say this, but I am so over you this year, with your heat and humidity! I am ready for clear, beautiful, perfect temperature days, with cooler nights! So…run along now…please.
It is September now, time to enjoy the cooler evenings, sitting out in one of my many hammock swings, watching the sunset, until long after dusk, just enjoying the sounds, the setting, and just…the moment! But not tonight, with the sticky humidity making it uncomfortable. This is why I am writing Summer a letter!
The end of summer is upon us, even though the weather is still hot here. I am over the summer heat and humidity, looking forward to clear days, beautiful crisp, fall weather, and cool nights. It just makes me start to think of pumpkins and mums!
I think I will add this Algoma Hammocks to my hammock collection this year! It reminds me of the beautiful colors of fall, and will look perfect under my maple trees as the leaves begin to turn. I hope to have some nice relaxation here this fall!
Well, our camping trip turned into a hiking trip also! My favorite, but I can’t believe I got the wife to go for it! As I explained, she does prefer to “camp” in the house, so going to a campsite is quite a challenge for her, as it is. But, hiking to our spot, and using backpacking hammocks, I was sure was going to be where she drew the line.
But, I guess she enjoyed the first half of our weekend so much that she was feeling very generous. Don’t get me wrong, she is a wonderful woman, and very generous, but this is just not her cup of tea. But she ended up having fun! It was a “down to nature”-type of short camping trip, and I think she was very proud of herself for going the extra mile for her guys. She blessed herself in blessing us, and it was very special!
