Here it is, the last day of August already. As I sit here in one of my Pawleys Island hammock swings, listening to the bug chorus, I’m feeling the end of summer upon me.
I will miss the summer nights, especially the night sounds, and the long days. I am going to try to enjoy every day before summer slips into fall!
Longwood Gardens had their wine & jazz festival yesterday. What a beautiful day it was! Wine, jazz, and flowers…three of my favorite things…and hammocks! Oh, there were no hammocks there, though, unfortunately.
Everyone can bring their own chairs to set up at the various venues. I decided we would each bring an Algoma Hammocks Butterfly chair! I brought my pink one to match some of the flowers! It was easy to carry around and packed up easily for the next show!
This evening I was out on my patio, sitting in my Butterfly chair, enjoying the lovely weather. I was talking to my son until after dark. It was so nice to just relax and spend time together.
Then I noticed a little flicker up in the sky. It was the first lightening bug of the season! I only saw one, but I will be on the lookout for more!
I hate to admit this but I don’t even know who is playing in the Superbowl this year! It’s the truth. I am not at all interested in sports…but I do like the snacks, and the half time! The rest of the time I usually read while my family watches the game, everyone sitting in their own Algoma Hammocks butterfly chair.
This year, one thing I am making is a simple, healthy gaucamole! Here is the recipe:
It has been too long since we’ve been on a picnic! I believe we “picnic-ed” the kids out last year on our road trip! It was fun, finding picnic areas in unfamiliar, yet beautiful territory along the way and in the National parks. But after a few weeks of it, I guess we had our fill for awhile.
This afternoon, we are just having a simple local picnic at a nearby lake. We each have our own butterfly chair packed and ready, color coded, of course. Now, just to put the finishing touches on lunch..and we are off to enjoy an afternoon outside on theis pretty day!
When I was looking for a casual chair for my son’s dorm room, the butterfly chair was my first choice. The butterfly chair has a long and successful history. It was first introduced by an Argentinian in 1938.
The butterfly chair is typically sold with hammocks, because when you sit in one, it feels like you are in a sling. Today you can find them in many stores with a metal frame and they easily fold over and lay flat. From the dorm room to the patio, the butterfly chair is easily a winner.
While cleaning the patio I found that the chairs I keep outside are in bad shape. I have no choice but to toss them away. The table is made of metal and glass and is holding up ok so I am going to keep it.
Now I need to find new chairs. After looking at all the standard patio chairs I was disappointed by the prices I was seeing. Then someone showed me a butterfly chair online and I was surprised that the price is half the cost of the other chairs I was seeing. The one factor that cinched the decision is the fact that I can buy four butterfly chairs with four different colors!
My kids have loved the Dr. Seuss books since they were toddlers. The Cat in The Hat is our favorite and Green Eggs and Ham is our second favorite. You cannot beat the good feeling you get from reading these books. They seem to be ageless, loved by young and old alike.
You can imagine my surprise when searching for a hammock for our back yard and I found Green Eggs and Hammocks. Because of the great products that Green Eggs and Hammocks has, I bought a Con2our chair and the trailer hitch stand to hang the chair from.
I find the butterfly chair to be a very interesting piece of furniture. It can be a camping chair or it can be used in your den to watch movies. Most chairs cannot hold that distinct position.
I have seen very fancy butterfly chairs that have leather seats but you will easily find ones that have fabric seats. I like that the chair can be folded and carried to wherever you need it most. What a great chair!
I just love sitting on the beach anytime, as long as it isn’t raining or snowing! I just dress accordingly! My husband likes to sit in a butterfly chair because they sit up higher in the sand, and are much easier to get out of!
