But I love my big, beautiful shade trees even if they leave a mess for me to clean up! Ive been getting the leaves cleared up…next is power washing! I hung my Pawleys Island hammock chair in the stand and am taking a rest!
Earth Day is celebrated every year on the 22nd of April. In 1970, a Wisconsin senator, Gaylord Nelson, first conceived of the day. He was worried about the rate of industrialization, accompanied with the careless attitude people tend to have towards our environment. On the first Earth Day in 1970, 22 million Americans celebrated clean air, land, and water. In December 1970, 7 months after the first Earth Day celebration, the U.S. Congress created the Environmental Protection Agency to monitor and protect the environment.
Today, we are still striving to do so. One way is planting trees because they help the environment by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. So, today, I am hanging out in my Pawleys Island hammock between two trees and feeling blessed to live on this beautiful planet!
I am now hanging out in my Pawleys Island Hammock chair, listening to it on my phone. I’m not sure when I will get tired of it, but it hasn’t happened yet!
I am actually spending time out in the sun this afternoon, in shorts and a tank top! I am laying in my Bliss Hammocks quilted hammock in the back yard.
Hey, it’s never too early to get a base tan for the season! I mean, the white of my legs is blaring in the sun! I’d love to get a little color and prevent a sunburn later. I will remind the sun haters that a suntan is healthier than a sunburn!
There are piles of snow in my backyard, thanks to Stella. I always liked that name, but at the moment, not so much! The warm weather earlier this month and last, although unseasonal, it had me ready for spring early this year!
Then, bam, a huge snow storm came along, and now my Algoma hammock stand is bare once again! I actually had a hammock in it a couple times this month! So, now, I am just praying for sunshine and warmer weather to melt these piles of snow away. On a positive note, it should make a beautiful green lawn this spring!
My poor Pawleys Island hammock was left out again this winter! I am a bad hammock owner. Luckily this hammock is well made, with durable weather resistant polyester rope, but this is really pushing it!
What happened to our spring preview? Old Man Winter won’t let go of his grip on us yet, so he sent some snow our way today. Perhaps he was jealous of Spring and how we were all going on about how beautiful she was and how happy she made us!
Well, regardless, it won’t be long now until I am hanging my Pawleys Island hammock between the maple trees. I am looking forward to watching spring life begin in the back yard…the buds, and the birds!
If it happens, I am just going to push on, and remember that the snow won’t lay on the ground long and spring is just around the corner. I am just looking forward to the day that I can get out my new Castaway Hammocks quilted hammock for the season!
Our local theater had a playing of the original Gone With the Wind movie last night. I can’t believe I have never seen the whole movie, well after all, it was almost four hours long(!), so we got tickets and went. I really liked the movie very much! There was a short intermission, but the time just flew by.
I am thinking about reading the book! I know it would take me forever, at 800+ pages, but, hey, it would be quality time spent in my Pawleys Island hammock chair!
I knew we would have to pay for our preview of spring! But I won’t complain too much, because we were lucky to even have that! But the wind was howling last night…roaring like a lion, actually. There were gale warnings and small craft warnings for many areas. We won’t even talk about how cold it is!
I didn’t hang out my Globo swing chair yet this year, although I hope to this month. Now, I am thankful that I waited, knowing March madness is possible!
