Traveling To Your Deck

Did you know that you can use travel hammocks at home too? The name implies that you need to travel to use, however, isn’t it nice to just travel to our back door and hang out on our deck? Sometimes it is easier than anything else. It depends on your available time and energy. Other family members will enjoy it too.

A travel hammock is convenient at home because it is so lightweight and portable. The nicest part is that  you may love it on your deck but you don’t want to keep it there all of the time. You just hook it up and hop in! When you are are finished with your “camping trip”, you take it down, fold it up, and put it back in the closet…until the next trip.

Rain Rain Go Away

I still that remember the nursery rhyme from when I was a child: Rain rain go away. The origin of the lyrics date back to the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603). It actually was like this: Rain rain  go away. Come again another day. Little Johnny wants to play; rain rain go to Spain. Never show your face again!

That’s how I feel on days like this when I can’t go outside and enjoy my hammock. The wind is blowing the rain against my house and windows. The temperature is 41 degrees. It’s trying to be spring but still so cold and raw. I’m so happy for my hammock chair in my house! I can stay in and read by the fireplace!

The Outback Chair Company balance sphere is the absolute coolest swinging hammock chair that I have ever seen! It is so modern looking, yet seems as if it would blend well into many decors. I could definitely lose some time in this piece! I like to have unique furniture that you wouldn’t see in every house.

I have picked out a perfect spot in my great room.  Or would I rather put it on my patio by the pool? Also, would I like it in a glacier blue, tangerine, or stripe fabric for the huge, comfy pillow? Decisions, decisions…

I love the beach! I actually love it all year long. Each season has its benefits. Such as, in the winter, you have the beach to yourself and don’t have to worry about getting a spot! You have a better chance at finding a nice seashell!

I especially love the summer season at the beach. Hot and sunny is my favorite.  I like to get in the water, then lay in my quilted hammock and bake until I’m hot. Then, I do it all over again. I can stay busy all day with this!

Lazy Sunday

My idea of a lazy Sunday afternoon is just hanging out, literally, in my hammock chair reading or napping. In the spring, I like to sit in the sun, so I sit in my chair that’s in the stand on my deck. I need every ray of sun I can soak up right now!

However, in the summer, when it is hot, I enjoy the hammock chairs under the trees, in the shade. I’m thankful that I have a variety of  spots to pick from!

As you are beautifying your garden and back yard, it is good to have a focal point. This could be a large item, something unusual or unique, or it could be something you get use out of also.

An arc hammock stand is a large wooden stand that resembles an arc on the bottom. Put your favorite large hammock in it and you have a resting spot that you can share with your special partner. Plant flowers or a garden nearby or hang a hanging plant on the end of it and it will double for a plant hanger.

Can’t Wait For Trout Fishing!

This time of year I get excited looking forward to trout fishing. I still fish in the same creek I did as a kid! We used to watch them stock it as boys and then we would see all the trout swimming around and we would feed them bread! We could not wait for the first day, hoping to catch a big one!

As an adult, I do things a little differently now. I park my truck at my old favorite fishing hole the night before to claim it. I sleep in my truck bed so I am there bright and early. I also hook up my Green Eggs and Hammocks trailer hitch stand with a hammock chair. This is where I sit to take a break now and then. I am a modern day fisherman with modern conveniences but I still get as excited as I did before I had any of these “toys”.

Rainy Day

It is a rainy, dreary day in my little part of the country today. Like most other people, I don’t especially enjoy the rain and clouds. However, I do know how important the water is for every part of life. It gives us everything. I especially enjoy the sunshine after a rainy day also. I don’t think we would appreciate the sun as much without the rain.

I know the beautiful spring flowers that are popping up everywhere will enjoy this day. So, I will just look forward to getting out and working in my perennial garden soon. Then, when I take a break with some peach iced tea, it will be in my quilted hammock!

One of my favorite outdoor sounds of spring and summer are the peeps of the tree frogs in the nearby meadow. As soon as dusk comes, they start peeping. I call them “peepers” but some call them tree frogs. My husband calls them toads! I have never actually seen one!

But I love the music they make at night as they are looking for a mate. The male frogs are trying to entice the females with a peeping sound. There must be thousands of them because they sound like a whole chorus. I like to slip out to my Mayan hammock in the evening or night and enjoy the nighttime music!

A Comfortable Garden Spot

As you are lounging in your hammock in your favorite spot in the backyard, don’t forget the hammock pillow! This will prop you up to read easier and give your head a cushion when you want to drift off to dreamland for a nap. I enjoy looking at my flower garden from my favorite spot.

Perennials are nice to plant in your flower garden, as they will come up year after year. If you plan with their blooming times, you can have color all through the summer until frost. Adding a few market packs of annuals interspersed with the perennials will ensure color all summer.
