The whole family is going to the lake today for our first spring picnic! We are bringing charcoal to make a fire in a fire pit. We will roast hot dogs! The kids’ favorite! Then we will walk along the shore, exploring, and skipping rocks. I have done this since I was a kid at this same lake.
Everyone has an Algoma Hammocks butterfly chair this year too. Even my son’s girlfriend has her new purple chair! She is excited to show it off! I bought her this for Christmas, as purple is her favorite color. We always enjoy the lake and watching all the boats! We are talking about getting kayaks too!
As I am continuing the “spring cleaning” job in my herb garden, I am taking away the old, dead growth of the perennial herbs. All at once, my nose is blasted by wonderful scents!
The smell of lemon thyme, lavender, rosemary, oregano, and chives is such a lovely reward for all my work! Did I say work? Yes, I suppose it is. But to me, it is actually play, or therapy, because I enjoy it so much. I also enjoy the little breaks I take in my quilted hammock to admire my “work”.
As I was working in one of my flower beds today, pulling weeds, raking the old leaves off, I am once again, amazed by nature. The weeds around my perennials resemble the plants! So much so, that it is at times hard to tell which one is the weed.
How clever nature is! I have to be very careful as I am weeding a patch of coral bells. I was having trouble telling what to pull! I love the coral bells and am glad they are spreading. This Brazilian hammock has the same beautiful color as the coral bells!
This is the greatest time of the year! New life is all around us, everywhere we look, there is a new shoot here and a new bud there.
A mother bird building a nest to lay her eggs in. Every spring, a bird finds my fake palm tree on my balcony to build a nest in, and this is so funny to me. But I assume it works for them, and it’s sheltered! t does inconvenience them, however, if I try to use my knotted hammock chair out there. So, I try to leave them alone, as in such a short time, Mommy and babies will fly away…
In our fast-paced modern world, there is constant pressure to do more more in less time. Consequently, there is little time to appreciate what we are actually doing, to enjoy the experience of being alive.
One way to ease this situation is to schedule in some time for yourself. To do this, you may need to reduce the number of commitments you take on. With less to do, you will have more time to reflect on and appreciate your experiences. So, go pick out a beautiful hammock that you love and enjoy your new life!
I’m still here in Cape May, and this morning it is a bit dreary out. I got up early to do some computer work before starting the day, getting ready to head home this afternoon. I am grateful for another wonderful weekend with my Mother, and will continue this every year as long as we can.
I am sitting at the table right in front of a big picture window, overlooking the ocean and beach. I can work so well here, glancing out to a beautiful view every few minutes or so. I think I would love to live here, with my office window overlooking this view! I would just need a place to hang my Bliss Hammocks Brazilian travel hammock, because it reminds me of the beach and ocean water, with its beautiful blue colors!
I am fortunate enough to be at the beach this weekend with my Mother. I always take her to Cape May, NJ for her birthday gift. Her birthday is in February and we used to go then, but it is so much colder, one year there was snow on the beach! So, the last few years we go in March, some years we get pretty spring weather. Some years, rain, but it is just great to spend time together, either way!
We spend a long weekend here and enjoy a slower pace. We sleep in, go out for a late breakfast, walk on the beach, or the promenade. Then we shop the cute little shops for unique items. Today, I walked into a store that had the same hammock chair I have, it made me miss mine! Afterwards, we come back and rest on our balcony and read, then we have a few favorite restaurants we like for dinner. We have a nice dinner, then come back and watch movies–“chick flicks” I cherish these times with my Mom!
Is Mother Nature confused? I am certainly not complaining, however, here in the Eastern part of the country it is 80 degrees and that sun is hot! I’m not quite ready for this!
I am glad for nice weather, but I do enjoy the cooler weather of spring first, to ease us into summer, slowly. Now, my wife is thrilled! She’s laying in the Algoma Hammocks quilted hammock in shorts and a tank top, she says she is “catching a few rays”!
This is the first camping weekend of the year, for the boys and I! We have been so fortunate to have an early spring that I am going to jump on this!
We have our camping gear, including new travel hammocks for each one of us. We are anxious to break them in. These are the times of my life with my boys! I will cherish these memories when I am old and gray, and I know they will too.
I love the color terra cotta! It reminds me of the Southwest. I have terra cotta flower pots, , and even a sun and moon wall decoration for my patio. I even have a terra cotta-stained patio! So much prettier than boring concrete!
I am adding a couple of new hammocks to my collection this year. One of them being this Brazilian hammock, which is actually called Terra Cotta. I think it will be beautiful on or near my patio!
