My Second Favorite Hammock Activity
Yes the title says the 2nd thing that I like to do in my hammock. There is something about music that relaxes me and all the stress is gone. Laying in the hammock is like laying on a cloud and with your favorite tunes blasting in your ears, it truly feels like heaven.
For this favorite activity it does not matter if it is Brazilian hammock or rope hammock. You are laying straight out with nothing but music to fill your head! Of course if there is a cool breeze that makes it even better.
I love my Mayan hammock so much that I would like everyone to know the things that I like to do while in my hammock. First let me tell you that it is so comfortable that I can spend many hours in my hammock.
I am going to dedicate this post to the first thing that I like to do in my hammock: read a book. I like the feel of an actual book and turning the pages. So I am still a book reader. I like to prop the book on my chest and I can read for 2 or 3 hours before I realize that I have other things to do. With my Mayan hammock I can lay sideways because there is so much room. Usually when I read, I like this position.
Like most of the country I feel that I have to be careful with what I spend my money on. I do more research to find the best price and I clip coupons for groceries (but have never saved as much as the TV show).
I am always looking for cheap entertainment for the family. I found board games are a very reasonably priced and you can’t beat the cost of the streaming cost of Netflix. Recently I found a single person Bliss Hammocks hammock online for under 40 dollars. Wow how can you beat that price. That will bring hours of summer fun for the family!
We now have two months to go before the first day of spring. That does not mean that it will be warm and sunny in two months, but it is a start to the warmer weather. Much of the country is experiencing a very harsh winter this year.
I cannot imagine not being able to go outside for a whole week but I have started to think of ways to bring the outdoors into my home. I recently purchased 3 big indoor plants that will bring green color into my home. I used a Kodak machine to enlarge some pictures of outdoor scenes that I hung on the walls. Also I purchased a hammock chair stand to hang my hammock chair in my living room! Now I can stay indoors for one week!
If you are trying to decide what kind of hammock to buy, consider where you live as a factor. For the warmer climates, the rope hammock is the best. Because it is not a solid piece like the fabric hammock, it allows air to flow through it and will keep you cooler.
Of course there are different types of rope hammocks to choose from so you still have choices. You can get a cotton, polyester, or duracord rope hammock. The polyester and duracord will last longer outside. And don’t forget the best decision of all – what color?
January is just flying by! Here we are in the last week already. It seems long, but I know that in just a few short months I will be camping on the weekends.
I didn’t need any new camping hammocks, but I seem to collect them, so Santa brought me a new one this year! I am happy Santa doesn’t care that I already have many of them, it’s kind of like my wife with her shoes!
Jack Frost did quite a job last night around here. The grass was white this morning. All of the dead perennials that are still left in the gardens are covered in frost, standing there quietly. Sometimes I wonder if they wish I would’ve pulled them out last fall.
It’s a far stretch of my imagination to imagine how it will look out there in just a few short months! For now, I am content to swing from my hammock chair stand and browse through garden magazines. It’s my favorite thing to do in the winter months!
I have to admit that, even though snow can cramp my style a bit, and I am not a snow lover, the sun shining on the snow is quite beautiful! I especially love a beautiful sunset at the end of a cold, winter day.
With the temperature in the teens today, I did not venture out, however, I did catch a moment of beauty from my back window, while swinging from one of my indoor hammock swings!
Well, I can handle bundling up and going outside in 30 degree weather, but the 20’s and teens are more of a challenge. Now, this “below zero wind chill” weather we are having is crazy! It is downright dangerous, to be exact!
Today, I am making use of my Mayan hammock in the family room. I am staying in and staying warm and I am just happy I have a spot in my home to hang one!
I didn’t even know it was going to snow! I woke up to a white carpet out the window.
Well, I suppose it is January, anyways. But I am anxious for the day to come when it is time to get my Bliss Hammocks hammock out under the trees!
