I am guilty of it, I admit to it. Shame on me! I never brought my rope hammock in this past fall. I make the mistake of thinking that I might get a nice day and use it…then before you know it, it’s winter…and, well, you know the story…
So, I am dreaming of a new Pawleys Island rope hammock this spring! I’m not sure of the color yet, but it gives me pleasure, on this winter day, to think of a new hammock in my yard!
I miss hanging from the hammock chair stand. It is sitting there all lonely. I miss hanging out there until after dark, listening to the birds sing until dusk, and then the chorus of nighttime bugs, oh, and looking at the stars. My patio is one of my favorite places…I am looking forward to getting out there!
After 30 inches of snow…we had “The Big Dig”! That is what my family is calling it! That is just a huge amount of snow to move around! It was cold too, even with the welcome sunshine. But we made the best of it, trying to have some fun anyways.
I was so happy to be on “kitchen duty” mostly, making sure they had good, warm soup and hot coffee and cocoa to warm up with. Then we all hung around in the warm house, appreciating the warmth, and feeling accomplished after all that work! Later, I found my husband sound asleep in Brazilian hammock in the family room. He earned that nap!
I cannot believe that I never finished this book last year! In fact, I only read two chapters, but it really was good! I just got busy with other things, and before I knew it, spring was coming, and, even though it sounds silly, I didn’t want to read a “winter” book in the spring!
So, I picked it up again today, and I had to start over, but this time I am reading the whole thing in the winter! There is a blanket of snow outside the window and I am curled up in my Mayan hammock, and, at the rate I am going, I just might read the whole book today!
We are officially “snowed in” for real. The road out front of our house is not even visible! There are snow drifts everywhere, and more snow coming down fast! It’s a great weekend to have a “camp out” in the house!
That means stringing up a few camping hammocks in the family room and having a “campfire” in the fireplace! We will even make S’mores. Hopefully we can keep our power on so that we are not truly “roughing it” too much!
Even though it has been bitter cold the last few days, I am still appreciating the longer days. Every day we get an extra minute, and we are all the way up to sunset at 5:15 now! Hey, I appreciate the little things!
It just makes it “feel” like spring is around the corner! I look forward to even longer days and warmer temperatures, warm enough to hang out in my Pawleys Island hammock!
I am not a gym rat, so I let my membership end. I prefer to exercise outside, all year long. However, on days like today, with the wind chill being 0 degrees, exercising outside is not an option for me! My goal is to stay in all day, so I climbed up on the “dreadmill”, as I call my treadmill, and got a work out!
I forgot how hard that Bowflex Tread Climber was! The only thing that kept me going was the book was reading and the reward I promised myself: an hour reading in my knotted hammock chair!
It did remind me, though, that it would be a good idea to take my rope hammock in for the winter! My poor hammock is still out there, complete with pillows, as if waiting for someone to hop in. If I wait long enough, perhaps a snowman would enjoy a rest from standing!
I am so thankful for my indoor hammock chair stand! I am warm and toasty inside, while the trees are blowing like crazy out there! I’m feeling very thankful for small pleasures.
