Jumbo Caribbean Hammock ChairA day to be home, if you are lucky enough to be off work, possibly with your family. In my household, we think of Biblical times, and the sad but happy day as Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

Often, this day, I find to be dreary and dismal, but today is beautiful! So is my mood! I am going to enjoy some outdoor time, running or biking, then I will definitely spend a little time in my hammock chair!

New York City

new-york-cityI am so excited this morning to be leaving for the “Big Apple”, aka New York City! I am meeting one of my dearest friends that moved away last year. We keep in touch on a regular basis, but I just miss the girlfriend time of being together, instead of telephone visits.

We always had fun just doing “whatever”, shopping, going to lunch, getting manicures and pedicures together, or going to the movies. Sometimes she would just come visit and we would sit in my hammock swings out in the back yard and just chat for hours! I can’t wait to bring spring in with her in NYC  for a few days !

Waiting For Daylight

Brazilian Hammock ChairAha, I remember now…the other side of daylight savings time. It is dark in the morning again. I am up, ready for a run, but it is dark out there. I forgot about the very slight downside to daylight savings time.

Oh, well, now I can have a cup of coffee in my swinging hammock chair, saying a few prayers for the day. Thinking of my family, especially my youngest teenager, who has testing today, praying he does well so that he can take the elective classes he wants to, next year, in his first year of high school. Did I have this much pressure as an eighth grader?

Windy Day

Caribbean Jumbo Hammock ChairWow! I guess March is famous for its wind, isn’t it? Well, I don’t like it! It is nice and sunny here, but that wind just blows right through me!

I want to go for a nice run but I am having trouble getting out the door. I just want to stay in and hang out in my knotted hammock chair, but I do love running, and I know how good it will make me feel. It’s just that blasted, cold wind…

Caribbean Jumbo hammock chairI am so thankful that my Mom is healthy and blessed with another birthday! She enjoys reading and flowers and being outside.

So, this year I bought her a new hammock chair! She will put it out on her patio, overlooking her flowers, and close enough to smell her lilies. I hope she will enjoy her spring and summer in her new special reading spot!

Caribbean Jumbo hammock chairThe sun came out today! It always makes me feel like it is warm out if the sun is out. So, I went outside…still cold, and windy too.

But, there are only four days of February left. I know I am getting closer to hanging a hammock chair in the tree and looking for the first robin!

Happy New Year!

Goodbye 2012, welcome 2013. We would all being doing ourselves a favor, myself included, if we made one of our top resolutions to relax more this year! It is better for our health and our happiness. It all starts with one simple decision to say, “I am going to take better care of myself this year. I am taking at least a few minutes every day just for me.”

It isn’t as much the length of time as the daily practice of doing it. Get yourself a hammock chair, start with that, because it is winter in half of the country, and this can fit in the house, if necessary. Find a spot in your home for it, possibly clearing out a spot, which will also give you satisfaction, then hang that chair, and start “hanging out” every day!

Christmas Is Coming

Here it is, 9 days away from Christmas day, already! The time flies! I usually have things I want to do but then, lose track of the time, and think, oh well…next year. I have been enjoying the season, however. trying to focus on the important stuff, and slow down enough to enjoy.

One thing that I am doing from my list this year, is making a huge amount of chocolate chip cookies, and give them in tins to people that have been kind to my family this year. Truth is, my husband is the true cookie maker in the family. So when I say “I am making”, it really means that I am coercing my husband into making them! But I will help, and when he is finished, I will make him delicious hot chocolate so he can just hang out in his hammock chair and eat cookies!

Enjoying The Little Things

Today is a rainy and gloomy day outside the windows. However, as part of my plan to just enjoy the holiday season, I am staying indoors today. I am lighting some holiday candles to make it cozy and playing Christmas music all day.

I am going to wrap presents so that my teenagers don’t find their gifts, as I am listening to music, and happy for my home. It is the little things that we take for granted, that can bring much happiness. For instance, just hanging around in my swinging hammock chair, enjoying the beauty of our Christmas tree.

My Meaning Of Christmas

I enjoy the holiday season the best when I don’t allow myself to get caught up in the “hustle bustle” of the season. It can happen if I am not careful. Of course, I want to give meaningful gifts to the ones I love. However, it is important for me to remember that the reason I celebrate Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

If I keep that foremost in my mind, I can enjoy the season more, and take more time to relax in my hammock chair, and less time trying to get the perfect gift! The perfect gift we can give, regardless of how we celebrate the holidays, or our religion, is always to give love, above all else.
