It is September now, so bring on the perfect days of temperatures in the 70’s, no humidity, and clear skies!I want to hang out in my quilted hammock and be able to enjoy it, feeling the sun on me, without sweltering in it. So, it is with happiness in my heart that I say goodbye to those “dog days of summer”!
You are so proud of them and happy for them, yet you miss them and the past that is gone. It seems like yesterday that I was snuggling with him in our Brazilian hammock, reading him his favorite stories.
We have lost our sweet little Bandit, a dear member of our family, and it has been a very rough week. Today, I just needed to lay in my quilted hammock and cry. This is a special picture of Bandit enjoying it with me last summer.
It is fun to see a few crocuses coming up that I didn’t plant! Maybe a squirrel was helping? I can’t wait to get it all cleaned up, then rest in my Algoma Hammocks hammock and admire my hard, but enjoyable, work.
I also enjoy getting the gardens ready, the raking and cutting off the old, dead perennial growth from last year. It can be hard work, but, after I am finished, I just take a nice rest in my cotton hammock and admire my work!
We are in the middle of a snowstorm here today, called Saturn. When did they start naming winter storms? So, this means the teenagers and the hubby are home today! This means a day inside hanging out, watching movies, and cooking and eating!
Lots of unexpected winter fun in the middle of a work and school week. But I do enjoy my “alone” time, so I will enjoy that tomorrow, hopefully. I am starting a new book, Running Within, that I plan to read in the Brazilian hammock I hung up in the den, because I can’t stand waiting for spring any longer!
I understand you have a special spot in the calendar. But I need to move on to longer days with more light, warmer temperatures, and spring! I want to put a beautiful, bright, striped Brazilian hammock under my old maple trees, so I bid you farewell..until next year.
A perfect place to put a hammock is on the front porch. It has an advantage of being cooler in the shade and drier in the weather, as I am laying in mine right now, as a rain storm just started.
I have a small Brazilian hammock on mine, because the smaller size is a perfect fit for my porch. It also just adds a special touch to the front of my house and looks beautiful with the flowers out there. I have spent a lot of quality time in this spot!
Yesterday, I never got out to the beach because I laid around like a fat cat in my cozy hammock, after a huge lunch. I did enjoy the view anyways. Well, it was even windier today, but I was ready to brave it! Not so much the rest of the gang, but I am the die-hard beach bum in this family!
So, I braved it, with chair in hand, and trotted out to the beach, turning my back to the wind. This helped greatly, and I had a wonderful view of the beautiful whitecaps all down the shoreline. I spent hours on the beach reading, with no interruptions, as I was the only family member on the beach! When I came in early this evening, they said they had a great day, with a nice view, on the deck in the Brazilian hammock and hammock chairs we have there, and why did I feel I had to be on the beach? I said “there is no sand on our deck to sink my toes in”!
Today there was what I call a heavenly breeze blowing. This is a nice, gentle breeze, not wind, that is perfect to keep you cool, but not blow the daylight out of you!
It was a hot day, 90 degrees, but in the shade, with the “heavenly breeze”, I was able to enjoy a restful hour in my quilted hammock. I just laid there, staring up at the branches, gently swaying, almost rocking me to sleep. That was so peaceful! Everyone should be so lucky!
